External Fire Resistant Doorset

An external fire door is a door with a fire-resistance rating and is used as part of a passive protection system to protect safe egress from a building or structure where external stairways and/ or common balcony are used for a means of escape.

Fire-resistant Doorsets

Commonly a flat entrance door (FED) on an exposed balcony or stairway, or where close proximity to adjacent buildings identifies the risk of fire spread, are doors where resistance to fire and spread of smoke and weather protection is a requirement. Some of the above application must include a self closing device, where others must be kept closed/ locked. These doorsets are subject to testing under EN1634 series only, where a product range is detailed as part of an extensive testing programme and direct application/ extended application rules are applied under a controlled document known as a classification report. Furthermore external fire doors have a requirements to be conformity marked under the CPR, which also applied the AVCP requirements (UKCA Mark).
